Sunderland boss makes worrying admission about transfer targets

Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has admitted that he is facing competition for most transfer targets.

The Black Cats boss is targeting a number of UK based players that he has worked with in the past though he faces competition from other Championship clubs.

Grayson’s side have been linked with the signatures of Robert Snodgrass and Ross McCormack, who have also been linked with Leeds United.

The Whites could have the upper hand in a deal for Snodgrass and McCormack, should they wish to follow through on the players as they just have had a cash injection following the club record sale of Chris Wood to Burnley.

Though Grayson remains relaxed, he has admitted that he faces competition in the transfer market and said, think a lot of clubs in the Championship are still looking at the same players, whether it’s Leeds or whoever.

He said regarding the pursuit for the duo, “I know we’ve been looking at players and been told that there are half a dozen to a dozen in the league looking at them as well.

“That’s the market we’re in, you’re looking at good players which we want to do. We’ve got to sell the club to them, that they’re going to play a lot, or whatever it is. Whether we’re competing with other clubs or not for players we want to bring them in for the right reasons.”
