Leeds and Celtic reportedly battling to sign Premier League attacker

According to reports, Leeds United and Celtic are set to battle in the race to sign Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom ahead of transfer deadline day.

The Whites are in need of a new striker after losing the Championship leading scorer from last season, Chris Wood to Burnley for £15 million.

Akpon feels that the time for him to leave the Gunners is no right as he does not appear to be part of Arsene Wenger’s plans.

The 21-year-old has undergone loan spells with Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Hull and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Despite boasting over 67 senior appearances for various clubs, he has represented the Gunners first team just four times.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is also exploring the possibility of bringing Akpom to his squad to provide competition to Mousa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths.

Akpom could be a good signing for the defending Scottish champions, especially considering that the future of Dembele is currently uncertain.
