Striker’s potentially sensational move to Newcastle United ruled out

With Newcastle’s attack sputtering in two Premier League matches so far, rumors have swirled about a number of players being brought into the club. One such idea was the return of a prodigal son in Andy Carroll.

The West Ham striker was an improving forward when he was approached by Liverpool to sign in a then club record fee. That was nearly six years ago now, showing just how times have changed.

The Magpies, however, are said to not be interested in the move, according to the Chronicle. The move, reportedly, would have been a loan deal, as the Magpies can’t exactly consider splashing big money at the moment given their current predicament.

And as romantic as this might sound, it probably is for the best that the big Englishman doesn’t trade London for the Northeast.

He’s just too much of an injury risk for them, and you get the feeling his wages would be quite high for the Magpies at the moment.
