Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer has admitted that Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is too expensive.
After falling down the pecking order at the Reds last season, Sakho was sent on loan to Palace for the second half of last season and his performances helped to keep the club in the Premier League after they battled relegation.
Palace were said to be looking to sign the Frenchman on a permanent basis this summer. However, Palace have been hesitant to pay the £30 million that is required to sign the player as it is perhaps a fee that is beyond their budget constraints.
Sakho became a topic of discussion following Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday and when asked about the player, de Boer said, “Everybody knows he had a major impact last season and when he’s available for us, I think that’s a quality injection and we don’t hesitate at this moment, but it’s not like this because he’s much too expensive for us.”
