After weeks of speculation, the move is finally complete. According to Burnley Football Club, they have signed striker Chris Wood from Leeds United.
They have also confirmed that they did so by paying a club record fee, that is according to BBC Sport, thought to be £15m.
The deal comes after the Leeds attempted to re-up the New Zealand man’s contract numerous times. He scored 44 goals in 88 appearances at the club, including a Championship-leading 27 goals last term.
However, it was not enough to help his side gain a spot in the playoffs, and now he looks set to test himself in the Premier League.
How Wood stacks up will be tough to say as he is a different striker to what Burnley have typically fielded. As for Leeds, this is a necessary move to allow the club to move forward in a new era.
