According to reports, Newcastle United are considering signing former striker Andy Carroll on loan from West Ham. Carroll left the Magpies six years ago as a highly rated youngster to join Liverpool.
Carroll earns £130,000-a-week and despite having plenty of talent, he has seen his progress as a player curtailed by injuries.
The Hammers were willing to let him go to the Chinese Super League in China and they may consider letting him go out on loan in order to reduce their wage bill.
The 28-year-old Carroll could also be set to fall down the pecking order at the East London club following the arrivals of Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic this summer.
Rafa Benitez has made no secret that he is looking to sign a new striker this summer to provide support to Dwight Gayle up front this season. An emotional return to St James Park may appeal to Carroll.
