Liverpool reportedly emerge favourites to land 17-goals-11-assists in 37 games attacker

According to Ladbrokes, Liverpool are frontrunners in the race to land Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez having identified him as top target should Philippe Coutinho leave.

The Reds are given a 7/2 odds by the bookmarkers to land the 26-year-old former PFA Player of the Year, while Chelsea, Arsenal, Roma and Monaco are close by with 4/1, 5/1, 7/1 and 14/1 odds respectively.

Leicester City are holding out for £50million for Mahrez’s signature, and while most suitors, most recently Roma have baulked at the price, Liverpool could be willing to meet it should they eventually cash in on Coutinho.

It’s believed the Brazilian would cost more than Barcelona’s £114million most recent offer (one Liverpool have since rejected) should the Reds finally agree to let the 25-year-old go.

In Mahrez, Coutinho’s departure could be less felt as the Algerian can hit top form in a new atmosphere like Anfield’s.

During Leicester City’s title-winning campaign, the skillful winger scored 17 times and laid down 11 assists in 37 EPL appearances.

Mahrez has all it takes to step into the shoes of Coutinho, and adding him to the Reds’ squad will leave manager Jurgen Klopp spoilt for quality attacking options.
