As per Portuguese newspaper Record (cited on Sports Witness), Benfica striker Raúl Jimenez looks set to leave the club this summer as a move to the Premier League is in the pipeline.
While no specific topflight club was hinted at as the next stop for the Uruguayan international, Everton and West Ham remain the only sides that have been linked with him since the window opened.
The Hammers are said not to have made any official move, but the Toffees reportedly tabled a £23million bid.
Everton are still hoping to land one more striker before wrapping up transfer business for the summer, and Jimenez, 26, would make a fine signing.
The former Atletico Madrid striker is close to hitting his peak, and has got almost everything needed to light up Goodison Park with his goals.
Jimenez is an aerial threat, finishes excellently well, and is the closest thing to being an expert at taking set pieces.
He also is a team player as he can lay on goalscoring chances for teammates and rarely loses possession.
If Everton decide to actively pursue his services, they would likely easily get him, and it doesn’t appear they have better options than Jimenez on their wish list right now.
