Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has said that he would take the point from his side’s draw against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday but he still ruing his sides missed opportunities.
The Black Cats took an early lead in the game through a goal from George Honeyman, though they could have sealed the game had Lewis Grabban, Billy Jones and Brendan Galloway not been guilty of missing good opportunities.
During the second half, James Vaughn had a lot of good opportunities but wasted them. Wednesday managed to equalize through a stunning goal from David Jones and they deserved the point as they dominated for periods.
The Owls could have won the game as Honeyman cleared the ball off the goal line while Gary Hooper hit the bar late on.
Grayson said after the game, “Overall it is a fair result. If we’ve got the second goal when we had the chances we would have won the game.
“It is a tough place to come and we have had a tough schedule, they have had an extra day recovery from our game on Sunday. The week before we had a game on a Thursday. You come to a difficult place and get a point – you would take that.”
