Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold is hoping to live up to the expectations of club legend Steven Gerrard.
Alexander-Arnold marked off his European debut on a good note by scoring a free kick for Liverpool in a Champions League qualification encounter against Hoffenheim on Tuesday as the Reds went on to prevail 2-1 in the match.
Gerrard, who is now in charge of the Reds under 18 side, spoke highly of Alexander-Arnold in April, saying, “Trent’s going to be a beauty.”
When the youngster was reminded about the comments made by Gerrard, he has now replied, “It’s always good to get compliments from your idol and I am hoping to live up to his words. It is always good to have his backing and support.”
Considering that the youngster did well on his first European outing, he will almost certainly be presented with more opportunities by the Merseyside giants going into the future. He will also get the opportunity to take more set-pieces.
