Everton still looking to sign a new striker confirms Koeman

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has insisted that his club still needs a new striker despite the fact that it completed a club record £45 million move for Iceland star Gylfi Sigurdsson on Wednesday.

Though the club have Sandro Ramirez in attack, the 22-year-old lacks experience in the Premier League and is also untested which means that bringing in a new forward will be good for the club.

The Toffees had been strongly linked with a move for Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud, but it has now been confirmed that the Frenchman has opted to remain with the Gunners and try and fight for a place in the first team.

Koeman said about his side’s need for a striker, “We still need to sign a striker. Everybody knows that we lost Romelu Lukaku.

“We brought in Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramírez and now Gylfi, and maybe they can share the goals around more than happened last season, but we still need another one to play the No9.

“When you play in Europe, and let’s hope we reach Europe, and in the Premier League you cannot do it with just one or two strikers.”
