Everton reportedly not interested in signing £30million-rated midfielder this summer

According to Liverpool Echo, French newspaper L’Equipe has claimed Everton won’t be making any attempts to sign Tottenham flop Moussa Sissoko this summer, despite being linked with planning to make a move for the midfielder.

Sissoko was inches away from signing for the Toffees on transfer deadline day last summer, but he made a u-turn on a move instead, signing for Spurs in the closing minutes of the window.

By every standard, the 27-year-old had an unforgettable dismal campaign at north London, starting just 8 Premier League games and with no goal to his name all season.

Tottenham are keen to offload the £30million former Newcastle captain, and it was believed Everton boss Ronald Koeman had eyes on returning for him.

Perhaps, Sissoko was some sort of plan B had they failed to land newest signing Gylfi Sigurðsson.

Regardless of what could have happened with a move for the ex Swansea man in the end, though, that Sissoko had already divided opinions amongst the club’s faithful following his snub would have made him an unpopular figure were he signed on.

While it’s too early to rule him out of recovering his once-splendid form, it would have been a big gamble to splash the cash on Sissoko this summer.

That a move for him fell through last time is no doubt of great benefits to Everton, as chances are he might have also flopped in a Blue shirt too.
