Everton have officially confirmed the signing of Gylfi Sigurðsson from Swansea for a £45million club record fee.
While the Toffees are set to enjoy the immense benefits of landing the 27-year-old utility man on the pitch, off it, his former club Tottenham are set to smile to the bank.
Spurs included a 10% sell-on clause in the move that took the Iceland star to the Welsh club in the summer of 2014, and will now pocket £4.5million from his sale.
The north London club had shown interest in re-signing Sigurðsson this summer, while Leicester City reportedly also made an attempt with a £40million bid.
In the former Reading, Shrewsbury and Crewe player, Everton have landed themselves a creative genius, a constant goal threat and a workaholic rolled into one.
Since he arrived the EPL, no player has scored more free-kicks (7) than he has. In 2016-17, Sigurðsson assisted more goals (8) from set-pieces more than any other EPL player, while the 433 kilometers he covered was the most of any player in the league.
The Iceland international looks like the last piece of the puzzle as the Blues hope to finish in top 6 this term, and could in all likelihood write his name in Everton folklore in his time at Goodison Park.
