Eredivisie giants reportedly in prime position to hijack long-term Everton summer transfer target

According to De Telegraaf, Everton are at the risk of missing out on summer goalkeeping target Eloy Room, as PSV are readying a bid for the Vitesse star.

The Eredivisie giants are preparing for the probable exit of Jeroen Zoet, who is wanted by Crystal Palace, and they have identified Room as his replacement should he leave.

It is believed Joel Robles won’t be at Everton by the time the transfer window shuts, and the Toffees are waiting for his exit in order to bring the Vitesse goalie in.

With summer arrival Jordan Pickford the undisputed number 1 in between the sticks this season, Maarten Stekelenberg is expected to have another competition for 2nd choice in Room.

The £1.5million-rated 28-year-old Curaçaoan international definitely fits the bill with over 150 league appearances under his belt.

He is already expected to leave Vitesse this summer having rejected a contract extension, but his next destination remains unknown.

PSV will go all out after him if Palace get Zoet, and the temptation to be number 1 at the club could exceed that of Everton’s where he is guaranteed bigger wages and more exposure.
