Club legend thinks Newcastle United’s new signing will be a decent addition

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given has revealed that he believes that Joselu will be a decent signing for his former club.

The Tyneside club have had to undergo a lot of frustration in their search for a new striker this summer as they lost out on signing the likes of Tammy Abraham and Sandro Ramirez.

With they do have top scorer from last season Dwight Gayle to call upon, the Magpies do not have reliable cover and competition for him Aleksandar Mitrovic is not exactly in the best of form.  Recent reports had been strongly suggesting that Joselu is closing in on a move to the Magpies.

Given will know Joselu, having played together with him during their time at Stoke.

He suggested that the player will be a decent signing for Rafa Benitez’s club, saying, “Joselu is a player I know from Stoke – I think he’d be a good signing but I think they need three or four new signings, not just the one.

“It’s such a hot bed of football, they live and breathe their football and they’re all waiting for breaking news that Newcastle have signed X, Y and Z. I think Rafa is probably watching the breaking news himself.”
