Tottenham star Dele Alli has vowed not to lose his temper this season after he kept calm following a stamp by Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey. Shelvey was sent off following the incident but Alli did not react.
Despite Alli being regarded as one of the greatest up and coming talents in World Football, the youngster has in the past been criticized for having a short temper. It was the type of incident that has made him furious in the past.
However, the England international has vowed to try and keep his temper in check this season. He said, “We knew it was going to be a physical game. It’s not an easy place to come. It happens sometimes,”
“I’ve been pulled up for my temper before but today we had to keep our cool. There was no need to react today.
“I don’t want to talk about it too much. I’ve had a few talks with the gaffer in the past. I’m sure Shelvey will be disappointed. It was important we stayed professional.”
Considering that Alli is now one of the most highly rated footballers in the Premiership, there are bound to be players trying to intimidate him this season and he will have to be very careful.
