Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has said that the nature of Pablo Zabaleta’s fitness epitomized the nature of West Ham’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday.
The Hammers were calamitous during the final ten minutes of the game during which they conceded two goals.
Following the game, Neville has now indicated that the fitness of the Argentinian epitomized the nature of the defeat for the Hammers, saying, “Zabaleta epitomised it for West Ham at the end. He was on his last legs.”
Zabaleta himself has recently admitted that he does not have many years left as a professional football and had said, “I know probably I am towards the end of my career and I can’t say that I will play for another five or six years.
“It depends on how I feel in the next few years. The Premier League is very demanding for physical intensity. I am anxious I can give 100 per cent. I am not thinking long term.”
The 32-year-old Zabaleta joined the East London club this summer after being released by City at the end of last season. Despite having a nine year spell with the Citizens, he only managed 19 appearances for the club last term.
