According to reports, Tottenham have had a bid rejected by Manchester United for Anthony Martial.
The French international’s future at Old Trafford is the subject of speculation as manager Jose Mourinho prefers wide players that will play more defensively than the Martial.
The 21-year-old Martial showed signs of promise during his first season with the Red Devils in 2015-16 and went on to score 11 Premier League goals for the club. Last season however, he was less than spectacular as he managed to find the back of the net just four times.
The arrival of Romelu Lukaku is also likely to hamper Martial’s chances of regular first team action this season. It remains to be seen if United will eventually sell him.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been looking for a new wide forward and missed out on signing Christian Benteke, who opted to extend his stay with Crystal Palace.
