Marco Silva explains why Watford’s 3-3 draw against Liverpool was a fair result

Watford boss Marco Silva has claimed that his side’s opening Premier League match draw against Liverpool which ended 3-3 on Saturday was a fair result.

For Watford, this will be considered as a well-earned point, though for the Reds it will be considered as a valuable two points lost.

Though the Hornets twice led the game, they found themselves 3-2 behind by the 60th minute after Roberto Firmino successfully converted a penalty and Mohamed Salah scored to give the Reds the lead on his Premier League debut.

Many Hornets would have been relieved when Miguel Britos scored in stoppage time to equalize.

Silva said following the match, “Of course I think it is a good result for us and a fair result. It was a very good first half for our team, good rhythm. I didn’t like the first 25 minutes of the second half.

“We expected a good reaction from our opponents but to play with the same intensity. We reacted well and left it until the end, it is really important to us and we really, really deserved the result as well.”
