Match Preview

Pachuca has been the most disappointing team in the Liga MX Apertura 2017, with three consecutive losses to start up the new season. Los Tuzos lost to Pumas UNAM away from home to start up the tournament and followed that up with a loss to Club America at home.

Pachuca is coming off a surprising 3-2 loss against Lobos BUAP, where the team finally found a way to score. Diego Alonso did lose one of his main players this offseason, Hirving Lozano but found an immediate formidable replacement, Edson Puch. Pachuca also made the ambitious move for Keisuke Honda in the summer transfer window but the Japanese international is yet to play any minutes for the club.

Honda has said that he is ready to play and with Pachuca struggling early on, we could see the former AC Milan player make his Liga MX debut in this game. Pachuca will have a very complicated game even with the home-field advantage but a win could completely turn the season around for Los Tuzos.

Tigres UANL has failed to play at their best to start this Apertura 2017; the best roster on the continent is expected to win almost every game but has failed to do so. The team from Nuevo Leon started off with a promising 5-0 win against Puebla but then had two consecutive draws against Santos Laguna (1-1) and Queretaro (1-1).

The more notable players for Ricardo Ferretti so far have been Lucas Zelayaran, who has two goals and Enner Valencia, who scored a hat-trick against Puebla. Valencia missed the last game against Queretaro because of a red card in the previous encounter but is set to feature in the lineup against his former team. Valencia had several glorious moments earlier in his career at the Estadio Hidalgo and it will be exciting to see his return with a different jersey.

Andre-Pierre Gignac should also be a key player to watch as he has been very subtle to start off this new season. The game should be won by Tigres UANL but it will not be an easy match at all for the visiting side.
