According to reports, Celtic are looking to sign South African defender Rivaldo Coetzee from Ajax Cape Town.
The 20-year-old Coetzee is regarded as one of the best up and coming talents in South African football and has long been linked with a move abroad. He made his debut for the South African national team in 2014 at the age of just 17.
Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring Coetzee to his side to provide cover for Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatcheko, who are experiencing injury problems. Ajax are however hesitant to sell Coetzee despite the player not turning up for training sessions.
Rodgers admitted that his club could sign players before the end of the window by saying, “It’s really about the availability of a player.
“We’ll look to bring in quality if it becomes available. It’s something we have been working towards over the course of the last few weeks.”
