According to The Sun, Tottenham are edging closer to landing their first summer signing in Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, and they are ready to launch a £35million bid to get their man.
The 21-year-old could be a 2-in-1 signing for Spurs being that he can play at both right-back and centre-back.
Regarded as one of the best defensive prodigies on the planet, Barcelona, Chelsea and Crystal Palace are all after Sanchez who only arrived Ajax last summer from Nacional’s 2016 Copa Libertadores winning team for £4million.
The ball-playing Colombia international isn’t only a defensive assurance at the back, he’s also a threat going forward, scoring 6 goals in 32 Eredivisie appearances last term as Ajax narrowly missed out on the title by a point.
Sanchez was also arguably the club’s best player in Europe as the Dutch giants ended up Europa League’s runners-up.
The youngster is interested in a move to the Premier League, and Tottenham would definitely interest him given manager Mauricio Pochettino’s attractive track record for promoting young players.
Despite willing to hold on to Sanchez, Ajax wouldn’t hesitate selling considering they could make almost nine times what they paid to land him.
Could he become the first arrival of the summer at the North London club?
