West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku has said that his team-mates must turn their focus onto producing good results during the upcoming season.
The Hammers had a rather disappointing pre-season and only won one of their six friendlies. Though these matches do not count for anything in the long-run, it would have frustrated many fans. They also lost their final pre-season friendly 3-0 against Manchester City on Friday.
Amid the struggles, Masuaku encouraged his team-mates to remain positive saying, “We have to be positive, like we said in the dressing room after the game. We still have to improve because the main event is going to start next week.”
Speaking about his own fitness, Masuaku said, “I feel good. I’m not 100 per cent yet but I’m working and focused on getting there. This kind of game can only help because I last played 90 minutes a long time ago.
“I was injured last season, so especially for me the pre-season is important and I’m already looking forward to the next game and I’ll always give my best.”
The London side will now be looking to improve upon their disappointing performances from last season and some have tipped them to launch a challenge for the Europa League spots.
