Jurgen Klopp is reportedly planning to make more big signings before transfer deadline day but no defenders are involved.
According to The Express, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes manager Jurgen Klopp is likely to “bring a couple of big signings in” before the transfer market closes.
The Reds have already secured the services of Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson this summer, but could still be forced to make additions, with Philippe Coutinho strongly linked with a Barcelona switch.
Whatever additions Liverpool would be making, though, a defender won’t likely be among.
The manager himself expressed his satisfaction at the current crop of defensive options available to him, claiming, “We have four centre-backs. I don’t think we need more. Just at the moment I’m fine. The transfer market is open until the 31st of August.”
Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk has been linked with an Anfield switch all summer, but a move doesn’t appear to be forthcoming with the Saints unwilling to do business with Liverpool.
The Dutch centre-back could yet lineup for the Saint Mary’s outfit next term, or move elsewhere, with Chelsea said to be a prospective buyer the south Coast club are willing to do business with.
As far as ins and outs go at Anfield this summer, it seems a lot of interesting twists and turns should be anticipated.
