Everton will reportedly look to English striker if move for Frenchman fails

Everton will look to swoop Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck if they fail to sign teammate Olivier Giroud, according to The Daily Star.

Ronald Koeman is looking to add another forward to his side despite already signing forwards Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez as he looks to replace Romelu Lukaku.

Alexander Lacazette’s big money move to Arsenal has put a doubt on Giroud’s future at the North London club. The French national himself accepts that he does not know where his future lies and Everton are believed to be keeping a close eye on the entire situation.

As we reach the start of the Premier League, it looks increasingly likely that Giroud might stay with the Gunners and fight for his place in the starting eleven. Thus, Everton are believed to have turned their attention to Danny Welbeck having bid £30 million to test Arsenal’s restraint.

The English national has seen been sidelined due to injuries for most of his spell since joining Arsenal from Manchester United back in 2014 and might consider a move if promised more first team chances.

Arsene Wenger has admitted the club will sell a few players this summer but he may not be as willing to let two first team strikers leave as Lucas Perez pushes for an exit, having already submitted a transfer request, following a lack of first-team chances.
