According to The Mirror, Everton are making contingency plans in case their top striking target Olivier Giroud doesn’t agree to a Goodison Park move.
The Toffees are looking at the Frenchman’s fellow Arsenal striking partner Danny Welbeck as an option, and would reportedly have to bid in the region of £30million to alert the Gunners.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants to add one more proven number 9 to his attack, and he’s convinced a fit Welbeck can do the job.
The 26-year-old England international has only managed to find the back of the net on 17 occasions since arriving the Emirates, but he has proven what a great finisher and contributor he can when not on the treatment table.
While he remains a valuable asset to Arsenal, the fact that they would have more than enough in attack if Alexis Sanchez and Giroud stay could force them into sanctioning his sale.
The Gunners would also have the opportunity to recoup almost double of the £16million he arrived from Old Trafford for.
While Welbeck is capable of being a real asset to Everton’s attack, and also adding the possibility that he still can hit his peak under Koeman, his injury woes are a concern, and it’s a risk to be considered.
