Everton reportedly finally set to complete signing of major target

As per The Sun, Everton are certain to complete the signing of Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson before the new week kicks in.

The Welsh club manager Paul Clement admitted he wants the deal to take the 27-year-old to Goodison Park wrapped up in earnest.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman isn’t resting on his laurels, though. The Dutchman still has his eyes set on recruiting an out-and-out striker with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud still his number 1 target.

When asked if he still planned to sign a striker after Everton’s 1-nil victory over Ruzomberok in the Europa League qualifiers 2nd leg, Koeman said, “We need two more front players because if you count the players and count the numbers, we lost somebody and we brought somebody in. We like more competition and that explanation is not so difficult.”

The Arsenal striker has remained a Toffees target all summer, with the believe that he would seek to leave Emirates following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette; who’s poised to be the Gunners’ main striker henceforth.

Giroud, 29, could reportedly be available for £25million to suitors, and Everton are still hoping he expresses his willingness to leave in order for an official bidding war to start.

The France international has plenty experience to bring to the table, and would be a perfect marquee signing as the Merseysiders attempt a shot at a top 6 Premier League finish next term.
