Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has admitted that this summer has been difficult for his club in terms of transfers.
The Spanish manager went on to add that his club will need to also sell more players if they wish to add in more signings.
Benitez said following his team’s pre-season win over Wolfsburg about the transfer market, “We are where we are. For us it has been a difficult transfer window.
“Hopefully we can improve the team a little bit but we have to move players out and also look to bring players in.”
The Magpies have so far signed Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo though many predict that they will need to further bolster their side if they want to be competitive in the Premier League next season.
Over recent days, the Tyneside club have been strongly linked with a move for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, who is destined to leave the Gunners this summer, though it remains to be seen if they will be willing to meet his wage demands.
