Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez joins the chase for Premier League striker

Newcastle United’s latest target of attraction is Burnley’s 26-year old forward Andre Gray.

The English player has one year left on his contract with Burnley but has been made available for £20million, reports The Chronicle.

Consequently, the striker have attracted interest from a host of Premier League teams.

Gray scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists last season in his 26 appearances with Burnley.

Newcastle United are in need of a finisher up front if they are serious about fighting for the top spots in the Premier League. Gray might be lacking in other aspects of the game but his finishing as a striker has been top notch.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic’s future in doubt at St. James Park, Gray can be a more impactful and experienced signing for the Magpies. Burnley are said to be open to listening to any offers at £20million par.

Newcastle United are also chasing Arsenal’s Lucas Perez but the striker has 50-50% chance of joining Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna. Thus, if Benitez loses out on Perez, Gray can be one of the possible replacements.
