Everton defender completes a move to the Championship

Everton youngster Kieran Dowell has joined Nottingham Forest on a season long loan deal.

The Toffees will be keen to monitor the youngster’s progress during the season and allow him the opportunity to gain more professional experience.

Though the 19-year-old Dowell managed to score goals during Everton’s pre-season games against Gor Mahia and FC Twente, Ronald Koeman preferred to send him out on loan to gain further experience rather than try and fight for a place in the Merseyside clubs first team.

Had Dowell remained at Goodison Park, he probably would have struggled to earn regular playing time which could have negatively affected his confidence so this was arguably a good move.

Dowell was part of the England under-20 side that won the World Cup in South Korea this summer and it will be interesting to see how he performs during this season in the Championship for Forest.
