Aston Villa captain John Terry has revealed that he feels that he will not have problems playing in the marathon long Championship season.

Despite playing in the Premier League for many years, Terry has never played in the Championship which features six more games than top flight football.

While Terry is regarded as one of the best footballers of the modern era, the 36-year-old only started six League games for Chelsea last season and many have questioned whether he can continue to play regularly.

However, Terry has dismissed such claims by saying that he feels that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

He said, “I’ll take 46. I’m normally playing 60-65. Everyone keeps raising that point but for the last 18 years I’ve played 60-65 games.

“Steve is going to look after me at certain points with recovery days and everything else. But I’m sure it won’t be a problem.”

It will certainly be interesting to see the former England in action in the Championship and the Villains will be expecting him to help spearhead a promotion push.
