Sunderland reportedly still in talks over the signing of prolific striker

According to reports, Sunderland are still in talks with Aston Villa over a possible loan move for striker Ross McCormack.

The 30-year-old McCormack arrived at Villa for £12 million but has failed to deliver at the Stadium of Light and the club are said to be looking to offload him this summer.

Black Cats manager Simon Grayson and McCormack enjoyed a good relationship working together at Leeds United and Grayson will now be looking to add as much experience to his side as possible going into the new season.

Grayson has refused to confirm the links though and with Robbin Ruiter aside, he said that he does not expect any deals to be completed before his side take on Derby in the first Championship clash on Friday.

He said, “It just shows you what the size of the football club is that we continue to be linked with these good players, that will continue to be the case because of who we are. Will any deals be done for Friday? Probably not, but it doesn’t mean to say we’re not working hard.”
