25-year-old slams his time with Everton a few years ago

Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi has said that his spell with Everton was the worst of his career and this made him doubt whether to move to Arsenal last summer.

The 25-year-old Mustafi was with Everton for three years from 2009 and after failing to make a League appearance for the Merseyside club, he opted to join Sampdoria.

He has now said about his time with Everton, “To be honest at the beginning I thought I was done with England because it was really frustrating and probably the worst time I had as a footballer.

“I didn’t want to go there again but then when it came down to making a decision to stay or leave, I thought I would only leave Valencia if I had the opportunity to go to England.

“I was thankful that I had another opportunity to make a step forward by coming to Arsenal. For the rest of my life, I don’t want to be patient anymore.”

Though he has earned mixed reviews for his performances on the pitch for the Gunners, the German international Mustafi has established himself as a first team regular for Arsene Wenger’s side after having made 37 appearances last season.
