Mineros de Zacatecas vs Necaxa Copa MX – Match Preview August 1, 2017

This Tuesday, August 1, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) Mineros de Zacatecas will host Necaxa at the Estadio Francisco Villa for a match in the second round of Copa MX play. Both teams have no points in the competition so far and will be looking for the three points from the encounter.

Mineros de Zacatecas started off its Apertura 2017 Copa MX run with a 2-1 loss against Morelia away from home. In the Ascenso MX, Zacatecas won its first game 2-1 but took a 3-1 loss against Sinaloa in week 2. Efrain Flores does not count with many former Liga MX players on his roster, Jonny Magallon and Roberto Nurse among the more notable names. This should be a complicated game for Zacatecas and it will come as a surprise if the second division side can obtain the three points from the game.

Necaxa has not played in the Copa MX yet but has been excelling in the Liga MX, undefeated after two games. Los Rayos are also yet to concede any goals and are looking like an early dark horse candidate to push for a playoff spot.

Ignacio Ambriz may not use many starters in this game with an important Liga MX week 3 clash against Chivas away from home coming up this weekend. The team from Aguascalientes still has some depth on its roster and should come away with the three points from the Estadio Francisco Villa.
