Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has revealed that Daniel Sturridge is a world-class player who will play an important role for the Reds during the upcoming season.
Sturridge had a disappointing season last term, making just several appearances in the Premier League due to his injury problems and the form of Roberto Firmino.
Despite Sturridge’s struggles last term, Lallana is confident that his team-mate and rediscover his form and said, “Listen, Studge has been absolutely brilliant in pre-season so far.
“He is looking really sharp and to have him firing on all cylinders would be like having two new signings if we can keep on the pitch and get him scoring goals.
“He is a world class player. He has come back from the summer looking absolutely brilliant, so fit. He is going to be a massive player for us this season. I can feel it. You couldn’t put a price on him.
“Every footballer gets injuries – Jordan (Henderson) has had a tough couple of years. We all have to deal with it at some stage in our career.”
Sturridge had a brilliant season during the 2013-13 season during which he scored 21 goals as Liverpool narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title. He will be aiming to recapture that form in the near future and also to try and win himself a place in the England squad for the 2018 World Cup.
