Everton boss Koeman reportedly identifies 29-year-old as one of his last three summer signings

Everton have plans to make a £9million bid for the services of West Ham defender Winston Reid, according to The Daily Mail.

The club’s Argentine defender Ramiro Funes Mori is set to spend between 6 and 9 months on the sidelines following a surgery, and manager Ronald Koeman has identified the 29-year-old New Zealand international as a great defensive cover for his squad.

Having made a handful of signings since the window opened, the Dutchman says he wants at least 3 more arrivals before calling it a wrap in the summer transfer market.

Reid could be one of them, but convincing West Ham to let go of one of their best players is a long shot. Even though the Hammers struggled last term, the experienced centre-back was one of their standout performers.

He’s contracted to the London club until 2021, and has become a fans favourite in his 7 seasons with them. If snapped up by chance, Reid has everything it takes to improve the Toffees rearguard as he’s far more than just a backup option.

Not only has he mastered the art of pure defending, the New Zealander is also an occasional goal threat having scored and assisted twice last term.
