As per The Sun, Tottenham’s face tough competition in the hopes of signing Nice star Jean Seri as six teams, including Everton are interested in acquiring the midfielder.

Spurs earlier had Arsenal, PSG, Barcelona, Inter Milan and a £35million buyout clause to contend with for the 25-year-old Ivorian midfielder.

The Ligue 1 outfit are reluctant to let Seri leave, having qualified for the Champions League last term, but it’s believed triggering his release clause could do the trick.

Spurs are yet to make a signing during the close season, with manager Mauricio Pochettino confident his side are not in desperate need of additions.

Seri’s quality, though, suggests he can be a great and much-needed addition to Tottenham’s midfield.

Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele combined didn’t have a hand in more goals than the 7 goals and 9 assists the box-to-box midfielder registered last term.

He also created more chances, completed more successful passes and got less booked than the Spurs defensive midfield duo.

While the Ligue 1 and EPL are 2 entirely different leagues, it can be argued that Seri wouldn’t have a problem feeling at home with the pace and tempo in England.

If there is a signing that can actually give Spurs that cutting edge, it is Jean Seri’s. However, landing him will be far from easy.
