Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has hinted at a move for Ross McCormack by revealing that his side are still short of power up front and will need to bring in at least one more striker before the transfer window closes.
Following the departures of Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini this summer following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, the Black Cats have brought in James Vaughn and Lewis Grabban on loan from Bournemouth to add firepower to their side next season.
They are still however aiming to bring in Ross McCormack to their side ahead of the new season. The 30-year-old McCormack is reportedly not part of Steve Bruce’s plans for the new season and the Villains are opening to listening to offers for him.
Grayson said of his side, “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that we are still a bit short in certain areas of the pitch, and of course we are still vulnerable to players leaving.
“But we keep asking the question, we keep seeing where it takes us, and hopefully there will be new additions to the squad. I think we were OK defensively, the midfield was OK, but where it really matters at the top end of the pitch, we were a bit light physically.”
