Javier Hernandez explains why he joined West Ham amid interest from Italy and Spain

According to reports, Javier Hernandez chose moving to West Ham above the possibility of moving to Italy and Spain.

The Mexican international Hernandez completed his move to the East London club this week, which came two years after he left Manchester United.

He has now explained that the prospect of playing for an ambitious West Ham side played a role in him choosing the club and rejecting advances from Italy and Spain.

He said, “I’m in the best league in the world and West Ham showed me a lot of confidence and trust. West Ham is showing more ambition compared to the last seasons. They want to qualify for Europe, you can see that in the transfer window. That’s why I’m here.

“They’re one of the most historic teams in England, very ambitious this season and hopefully we can achieve our goals. There were other options – one in Spain and two in Italy. The last two transfers I made on the last day, this time it was more calm and easy. Thankfully I’m where I want to be.”

The 29-year-old will bolster West Ham United’s strike force ahead of the new season and is expected to make his debut for the club during their first game next term against the Red Devils.
