Everton reportedly keen on signing 21-year-old; £18million bid required

As per Spanish publication Marca, Las Palmas centre-back Mauricio Lemos has emerged as a summer transfer target for Everton.

The Uruguayan has a release clause of £27million, almost 15 times the amount he arrived from Rubin Kazan for 18 months ago.

He has caught eyes within that timeframe, as Barcelona and Manchester City were said to have made enquiries about Lemos last summer, while Inter Milan and Roma are amongst those keen on the youngster this time around.

Las Palmas are interested in listening to offers for the highly-rated and ball-playing defender, and they consider £18million as the lowest price he would be available for.

Lemos has caught the eyes of Toffees boss Ronald Koeman for a while now, and the Dutchman was at Spain in April to watch him in a league game; Las Palmas’ 5-1 loss to Athletico Bilbao.

The South American isn’t only a fine defender capable of adding steel to Everton’s defence if acquired; he also is an occasional goal threat, having scored 5 goals in 24 La Liga games last term.

It is worth noting that Lemos rejected a Camp Nou move last summer in order to continue regular football at Las Palmas, so, playing time will be a great factor in persuading him into agreeing a move to Goodison Park, or elsewhere.
