According to Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manhã, Everton-target and Benfica striker Raúl Jimenez could still leave Portugal for England this summer, and Goodison Park remains an option.

West Brom and Crystal Palace are also reportedly interested in the Mexican international, but Benfica’s asking price of £35.7million remains a major hindrance.

The Toffees also won’t be willing to meet that fee, but could however consider going into a bidding war if it is significantly beat down.

Jimenez has admitted he would love to play in the Premier League, and his all-round physical qualities and aerial threat hint at why he could be a success story in the top flight.

Filling Romelu Lukaku’s shoes at Everton won’t be easy, and despite already adding Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramires to their attack, the club can still do with a player like Jimenez to complement their striking options.

Everton have a good chance of beating other suitors to this signing if the right bid is brought to the negotiations table.
