Breakthrough reportedly underway in Liverpool’s pursuit of top target

As per German publication Bild, Liverpool target Naby Keita could finally be allowed to depart RB Leipzig, as the Bundesliga club are now scouring all around for a perfect replacement.

As Liverpool have found out, Leipzig are extremely difficult to do business with, and were said to have rejected the Reds’ most recent bid for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The side’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick had expressed their unwillingness to sell the Guinean international – who played a huge role in their 2nd-place league finish last term.

To that effect, Liverpool’s first and second bids; £57million and £66million respectively weren’t listened to, but an improved £74million offer tabled earlier this week might have done the trick.

Liverpool deciding to cough up such an enormous club record fee in order to land Keita underlines how highly esteemed manager Jurgen Klopp holds him.

If he successfully makes an Anfield switch, the Merseysiders would surely have their chances of winning a first-ever Premier League title boosted.
