According to reports, Tottenham have opened talks with Real Madrid over signing the out of favor Mateo Kovacic.
After joining the Spanish giants in 2015, Kovacic has struggled to earn regular playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu and also looks unlikely to gain regular first team football next season.
He could be set to further fall down the pecking order after the club completed the signing of Dani Ceballos and have seen Marcos Llorente return from his loan spell with Deportivo Alaves.
The prospect of playing regularly in the Premier League may be appealing to the 23-year-old Kovacic, who made only 27 appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side last season and scored a solitary goal.
Kovacic will be a good signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s team and will add creativity to the North London club, who will be aiming to challenge for major silverware next season.
There is a good chance that a deal will take place between the two clubs before the end of the summer.
