Having increasingly grown frustrated with RB Leipzig’s tough stance on the refusal to sell Naby Keita, Liverpool have reportedly put all transfer plans for his signature on hold till next summer.
The Times claims that the Reds will now attempt to make another bid for the midfielder at the end of the upcoming season when his release clause can only be activated.
The Merseysiders first tabled a £57million bid for the 22-year-old before returning with another worth £66million.
At the moment, the only headway out of the limbo for Jurgen Klopp’s ambitious side is if Leipzig decide to listen to the offers already tabled.
Keita is contracted with the Bundesliga surprise packages of last season until 2020, but has voiced out his desire to move to Anfield.
It is unknown if the club will keep the Guinean international against his wishes if he keeps insists on leaving.
Klopp had wanted to further solidify his midfield with Keita towards a busy and challenging campaign, but will now have to turn attention towards other options after this development.
