According to reports, Newcastle United are set to step up their interest in signing Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas, with the player also said to be keen on moving to the Magpies in order to play in the Premier League next season.
England manager Gareth Southgate admitted that Clucas is an interesting player last season. For the 26-year-old to earn an England call-up however, he will be aware that he will need to leave the Tigers, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Rafa Benitez’s club are said to be willing to offer £4 million for Clucas as they look to bolster their side ahead of the upcoming season. Hull however are reluctant to sell until they manage to find new players.
So far this summer, the Magpies have managed to secure the signature of Christian Atsu on a permanent basis as well as sign Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo and Florian Lejuene.
