Liverpool handed boost in their hopes of finally completing major transfer

Liverpool target Virgil Van Dijk has been left out of Southampton’s pre-season squad following transfer speculation.

It has been widely reported that the center-back has been looking for a way out of Southampton and a move to Liverpool seems to be on the cards.

This would mark the end of a roller-coaster transfer saga, with Liverpool previously backing out of a possible deal after being accused of “tapping up” the Dutch International.

Former Red’s Skipper Jamie Redknapp went on record recently saying that the player wanted to move to Anfield, and that he could see a move happening despite all the obstacles in the way.

It appears that Van Dijk has informed incoming Saint’s manager Mauricio Pellegrino of his desire to leave.  The new manager has not included Van Dijk’s name in the 25 player squad travelling to Evain-Les-Bains.

A move away from Southampton now looks likely for the stalwart center-back.
