Lazar Markovic’s career at Anfield might well be coming to an end. The Serbian winger was signed by Brendan Rodgers in a deal worth £20m, but never developed into the player he was expected to be following his heroics in Benfica.
Klopp has now effectively ruled out the possibility of Lazar rejuvenating his Liverpool career by saying, “With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too. He’s a really good player. I like him as a person.
“He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him. Before he had problems with his groin but now he’s good. There will be a club out there who needs him.”
It is a clear signal that Markovic could well be on his way out of the club if the right bid comes in. It is evident that the winger is no longer a part of Klopp’s plans.
