According to reports from Sky Sports News, Barcelona have registered an interest in the Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho and are willing to part with more than £70m to acquire his services.
Coutinho, however, has not shown an intent to leave, with all his comments on the matter reflecting a commitment to Liverpool.
He recently signed a new five and a half year deal that includes no buy-out clause. When asked about whether his star player would leave Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had this to say, “When did he sign his new contract? With a £400m clause!
“There are absolutely no plans [to sell]. What our owners say is there is the absolute opportunity not to sell anybody if we do not want to. That means we can bring in other players and it is a good situation. We have a stable squad with a good basis.
“We want to bring a few in with fresh blood, but nobody will leave us without our say so I am completely relaxed about this.”
These words will no doubt relax Liverpool fans, who believe that with the right additions, they could mount a title challenge with Klopp at the helm.
