According to reports, Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is keen on signing striker Ross McCormack from Aston Villa.
The Black Cats have already managed to add James Vaughn and Aiden McGeady to their side ahead of next season and are looking to add more experience.
The Scotland international McCormack is one of the most seasoned Championship forwards, with 119 goals under his belt but as yet to demonstrate prolific form for Villa, who he joined last summer for £12 million.
Sunderland may however struggle to capture the signature of McCormack. It appears that the forward is back on good terms with Steve Bruce after a fallout with the manager last season.
As proof, the striker was even used for the full 90 minutes of Villa’s recent pre-season victory over Kidderminster Harriers.
Though the Black Cats have added McGeady and Vaughn, they will need to sign more strikers following the departures of Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini.
