According to reports, Newcastle United have increased their offer to Norwich City for winger Jacob Murphy and offered a sum of money in the region of £10 million.
The Magpies are looking to lure the England under-21 international Murphy in order to bolster their side ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Manager Rafa Benitez has reportedly indicated that he wants the deal to take place over the coming days while managing director Lee Charnley works on the transfer.
However, Norwich’s sporting director Stuart Webber is said to have met with fans of the Canaries and informed them that Murphy will only be sold should the price be right, which is believed to be around £16 million.
When asked about the Murphy deal by a fan, Webber said: “You’ve been reading the Newcastle Chronicle haven’t you?”
